Rare 1939 Leyland TD5 secured for preservation

QOCS is pleased to announce the acquisition of an exceptionally rare vehicle comprising a 1939 Leyland TD5 chassis with a 1955 body built by Black & White Buses at Sandgate.

Remarkably, the vehicle started its life as a double decker bus in Melbourne before being overhauled and fitted with a single deck wooden-frame body by Black & White Buses.

The vehicle was No. 27 in the Black & White fleet and operated in its current form from June 1955 through to cessation of operations in May 1974. It was the second of ten re-bodied Leyland Titan TD5 double deckers produced by the Black & White body shop between 1954 and 1960.

It will shortly be relocated from its current location to undercover storage in Bundaberg before being restored in the next couple of years.
