For the ninth consecutive year, the club was engaged by the New Farm & Districts Historical Society (NFDHS) to provide a heritage bus tour between 10:00am and 3:00pm on Saturday 5 July 2019 as part of the Teneriffe Festival. The tour was operated by volunteer drivers from QOCS with commentary supplied by members of NFDHS.
The tours were operated by two former Brisbane City Council vehicles comprising of Bus 498 (1968 Leyland Panther) and Bus 827 (1978 Volvo B59). Recently restored ex-BCC 1969 Leyland Panther, Bus 722, was also in attendance for static display, as was Barrie Watt’s 1942 Jailbar Ford V8.
The tours operated a different route to previous years which incorporated James Street, Merthyr Road and Doggett Street for the first time. Despite the inclement weather, the modified route was popular with passengers.
We look forward to operating these tours once again for the next Teneriffe Festival in July 2020.
